World Sanskrit Day, also known as Sanskrit Diwas, is a holiday focused around the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit. It is observed to not only promote but also revive the ancient language of India i.e. Sanskrit. It is celebrated every year on Shravana Purnima that is on full moon day in the month of Shravana according to the Hindu calendar. In 2019 it fell on 15 August.

We at National Public School, Kalkere celebrated World Sanskrit Day on 16 August as part of a special assembly where our students spoke in Sanskrit about the relevance of our ancient language. The students also chanted slokas and sang songs. A quiz based on Sanskrit Diwas was also conducted. The assembly ended with a talk by the teacher on how Sanskrit is known to be highly scientific in its structure and is a language that is in high demand all over the world.
