Teacher's Orientation

Teacher's Orientation

The Teacher Orientation Program at National Public School, Kalkere, serves as a foundation in building a cohesive, well-prepared, and inspired teaching community.
The program commenced with a comprehensive training session tailored for newly recruited teachers on 16 May 2025. This initial phase focused on familiarising them with the school’s ethos, policies, and expectations.
Following this, the existing teaching staff rejoined the program, marking the beginning of an integrated orientation phase led by the school’s leadership team.
A series of workshops was conducted with a strong focus on curriculum planning aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). Teachers engaged in sessions on effective lesson plan writing, designing practice worksheets, and implementing learner-centric strategies in the classroom. Each module emphasised the teacher's role not merely as an instructor, but as a facilitator of holistic
student development.
A key component of the program was a reflective session on the role of a teacher in the 21st-century classroom—as a facilitator, mentor, and lifelong learner. The sessions also emphasised effective classroom management techniques, aiming to create an inclusive, engaging, and disciplined learning environment.
Teachers were guided through activity-based interactive sessions on how to create structured, engaging, and inclusive learning environments.
The orientation also addressed the dynamics of the teacher-student relationship, encouraging respectful, compassionate, and inspiring interactions. Additionally, enhancing communication with parents was highlighted, recognising the role of parents as partners in the child’s educational journey. Sessions included techniques for effective parent-teacher meetings, regular academic updates, and constructive positive feedback methods.
Overall, the orientation program not only acquainted teachers with institutional processes and pedagogical frameworks but also empowered them with the tools necessary to become effective and empathetic facilitators
of learning.
