English Reading Week-Book Voyage-2025-26

Between the lines, we set sail….at National Public School, Kalkere- where pages whispered and stories prevailed!!
English Reading Week, themed The Book Voyage, took students on a rich literary journey from 8th to 15th July 2025, blending creativity, reflection, and analytical depth across Classes 3 to 12. The inaugural assembly set the tone with an inspiring speech by the Principal, Ms
Shyla Purushotham, a mindful reading pledge, and a captivating Masquerade by Classes 5 and 6. Activities ranged from Reading Picnics and poetry competitions to Graphic Novel
creation and Caption writing. In subsequent days, students were engaged in short story
writing, reading shopping lists, heartfelt letters to fictional characters, and expressive
activities like Pass the Expression and Para with a Twist. Senior students crafted poems and blurbs rooted in their reading experiences, while worksheets and Text-marking deepened comprehension.
The week culminated in a programme featuring Author Speak, personal reflections,
Language Quiz finals, and a closing note from the Vice Principal, Ms Sumedha Seshu.
Students enjoyed an interactive session with the guest author, Ms Nandini Nayar, the
renowned short story writer, who shared her experiences and inspired them to explore the world of books.
Anchored by the pledge to read purposefully each day, the week left a lasting imprint—transforming reading into a habit, a joy, and a voyage of discovery.
