On Friday, August 1, 2025, the stage at National Public School, Kalkere, came alive with stories that danced, wit that sparked, and quills that carved legacies.
The second edition of the English Fest, Duende, unfurled a literary canvas across Bangalore, bringing together ten schools in an exuberant celebration of imagination, intellect, and artistry. The fest began with the solemn lamp lighting and a soul-stirring invocation song, followed by a welcome address by the Principal, Ms Shyla Purushotham. Her welcoming words set the tone for a day steeped in the magic of storytelling.
A lyrical performance whisked the audience into The Battle of Quills, the central narrative
that elegantly stitched each event together. From Arcane’s exploration of digital realms to Serendipity’s lyrical innovation with live instruments, every performance was a tribute to the power of words. Symphoria enchanted viewers with a fusion of popular English novels on stage, while Talecouture turned resourceful fashion into storytelling. Zeal tested literary prowess in a fiery quiz, Fluentia celebrated quick wit through JAM, and Dualogue brought forth spirited debates that sparked reflection and insight.
As the fest drew to a close, the Vice Principal, Ms Sumedha Seshu, appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation and their display of talent that made the event memorable.
Though NPS Whitefield claimed victory in the Battle of Quills, the true triumph lay in the harmony of creative expression and collaborative spirit. With every dialogue delivered, every verse recited, and every page imagined, Duende became more than a fest—it became a movement of minds uniting in literary joy.
